With all the content out there, I think it’s getting more and more challenging these days to know what’s plagiarized and what’s not. Recently, I was putting together a story and as I decided to google the quote I wanted to put in, I came across a Medium post that was very similar to what I wanted to write. In fact, the opening lines were exactly the same but I had never read this article before and the poster certainly hadn’t read mine. It was just a coincidence. Had I written the story and not found her post, somebody certainly would have thought I’d plagiarized mine. We read so much content these days that our writing is bound to be influenced and exactly how you said unconsciously we may be writing things that we picked up somewhere.
