Why I Started Writing Again…

Most people think that what bloggers do is a piece of cake. People who actually go somewhere with their blog put in a lot of effort and hard work. It’s not at all easy to come up with fresh ideas and consistently publish new content.

With a very demanding full-time job, it’s really not easy to be consistent with writing. You don’t have enough time to write and your brain is so fried from working that you just don’t have what it takes to be creative. It’s worse if you’re working an analytical job.

If youre not consistent, your blog quickly fades. The whole idea of writing is for someone to read your writing. I’m not going to sit here and pretend that the validation isn’t important, whether that translates to money or not. Without the validation, you lose interest. I did too and I stopped writing.

This year has been a year of reflection and change for all of us. I know most of us have stopped to think about what we’ve been doing with our lives. While there aren’t many parts of my life that I can change, there’s at least one thing that I can do. Write.

It started with the idea of expressing what I felt. I started writing for my personal blog again. I chose to write whatever I wanted — stories about my day, my opinions, my thoughts. The more I wrote, the more consistent I became and I felt like I had more to offer.

I felt like I had some wisdom to share. I’ve always been the one to listen to people’s problems and offer advice, so why couldn’t I write about that.

I also knew I had knowledge to offer. I spent 16 years in banking and high finance, and there’s something I could teach there. People still ask me for financial advice and I even built my consulting practice around it. So, I know I have something to offer and I can help people.

When I started my personal blog almost 12 years ago, the world was different. Blogging was more about your personal feelings and opinions, rather than sources of information. Now, the world of blogging has changed — improved. It’s become a place not only for people to share their ideas but also their lessons and experiences. In my opinion, it’s a much better place.

I really want to be a part of that. I want to be a part of sharing my work and my knowledge to help people. When I work with people in my consulting practice, I know who I am helping. I know the tangible benefits they are receiving and the money that I’m earning. But, I have no idea who I may help with my writing. Honestly, it’s exciting to think that I could be helping people with my writing.

So, I thought to myself, why not turn my life experiences and business into a few helpful articles for people?

And that’s why I started writing again.
