How my Substack Newsletter Took Off
I struggled a lot with writing over the last couple of years. I stopped, started, stopped. I couldn’t keep up a routine or find ideas to write about. Even when I did find ideas, somehow they just fizzled out.
The Medium Phase
Then came Medium. In the beginning the response was encouraging. But there are only so many gung-ho self improvement articles one can write. I couldn’t find my voice, and I started to dread the moment I had to start writing an article. The thought not having views, and not having enough claps was nerve-racking.
And you know what happens when you don’t get that validation. You feel downright crappy. You feel like there’s something wrong with your writing, or worse still… there’s something wrong with you.
I gave up Medium and I gave up on writing.
But it was nagging at me. I love writing and one platform shouldn’t be the death of what I love doing.
And may be, just may be… I was doing it wrong. Turns out, I was doing it wrong! I was relying on one platform and one set of people.
