Someday, maybe

Don’t dream about it, just get down to it

Everyone who’s ever read anything about productivity and time management has come across this. It’s a quintessential David Allen phrase.

But, what makes us think that the someday, maybe will ever come to fruition. Why even have it under your goals if you don’t think you will ever get to it.

I’m not criticizing David Allen at all. I love his book and I love his system. We just need to find a better way to implement it sometimes.

Quite often we put things off because we will have more time in the future. For some reason, we cling to the belief that somehow in the future, we will magically be able to clear our calendars and have the energy required to do the things that we’ve always wanted to do.

Our daily routines will remain the same and you will be no younger tomorrow. So, why are we putting off our goals?

We need to look a the that list and tackle it today. I know that the Power of Habit preaches the notion of getting 1% better everyday. Well, following that logic we should also chip away at our list by doing 1% everyday.

We live enormously busy lives. I think we have less “time” today than ever before in history. And it’s all because of the distractions that we have created for ourselves.
