More people should write

and write more consistently…

I’ve had an anonymous blog since 2009. For the most part, I was just worried about people at work finding out that I write on the Internet. It also felt liberating to be able to write just about anything.

But, guess what? I didn’t really write anything that I couldn’t say under my own name.

And guess what else? Most people don’t really care.

The fun part about the Internet is that you can be found, only if you want to be found. I mean with all the people scrambling for their 15 minutes, there’s absolutely no way that any one would ever find you unless you make an actual effort to promote yourself.

So, it doesn’t matter how you write. It only matters that you write, if you want to.

Then, there’s also all the different “writing advice”. There’s so much advice out there. It can get overwhelming. How to format your article, what not to write, why your title sucks, and on and on. I do think some of them are helpful but, it’s also just important to find your own voice.

Heeding too much of the advice will simply make you one of many. And this happens. After a point, many of the people on Medium start to sound the same and it’s not their fault. They’re trying so hard to emulate their writing heroes that they…
