It’s not about finding a niche
It’s about writing from experience
So here’s the thing, every article about writing a popular blog will tell you that you should pick a niche. Find something specific to talk about and go with it. Blogs that focus on a niche tend to do better than a blog that has no theme or sounds more like a personal journal.
When I started writing, I didn’t really like this advice. I didn’t want to stick to just one subject matter. It just seemed like such a waste. I had so many thoughts running through my head and there are so many things are interesting to me in this world. I wanted to write about a broad spectrum of subjects.
When you read extensively and have an interest in a great many things, you feel like you want to write about all of them. It’s like you want your writing to be a sum total of your experiences and interests. That works for a great many people.
Writing on everything is for people who have honed their writing craft so well that they can take any topic and spin it into a beautiful story that you just can’t stop reading. But, it doesn’t work for everyone. For most people, writing is about getting your message across, and the only message that will make sense is the one you know well.
