Find Your Superpower
You’ll be surprised at what can be your strength
It took me a while to find my strengths in writing. It didn’t happen overnight.
I’ve always been a fairly good writer but, over the years writing business reports has perhaps put a real dampener on my style. My writing became very professional. The use of the KISS principle was painfully apparent.
But, then I realized I could put this to good use.
For the past 16 years, I’ve lived and worked in a country where the dominant population has been expats. And quite obviously, English is not the first language. Yet, it is the language for business.
So, even when writing complicated financial reports, I’ve had to put things into very simple terms. I’ve had explain complicated concepts not just to people who don’t have a great grasp of the language but, also to people who don’t readily understand the subject-matter.
I now realize that, over the years, this has given me the ability to breakdown complicated concepts in plain English.
And more recently, I’ve come to realize that this is a bit like a superpower. Unknowingly, I used this superpower to start a financial newsletter and it’s done very well. I’ve also been able to grow my social media presence and start an entire business off of this.
Not bad, if I do say so myself.
The moral of the story:
We all have a superpower. Use it.
