A Sense of Purpose
Here’s a short story…
Almost every morning on my way to work, I would see the same gentleman cross the street. This man walked with a slight tilt forward, like he had a real sense of purpose in life, and he wore an ever so subtle smile on his face. He gave me the sense that he was ready to take on the world and honestly, he made me smile every morning.
What really caught my attention though, was that this man had Down’s syndrome.
I don’t tell you this story to make you feel like your problems are not important.
I tell you this story to make you realize that we all have the will to fight and overcome our problems. We just need to find our purpose.
I don’t know what this man did for a living. I do know however, that he woke up every morning, put on a jacket and tie and went out to add value to the world.
And you know what? He sure did make the world a better place. If nothing else, he put a smile on my face every morning.
