A Platform is Just a Means to an End
It may not be Medium, it may be you.
I don’t know what it is about Medium. Sometimes, it feels so worth it and other times, I just cringe and stop reading all together.
I didn’t do very well on Medium. I wrote a handful of articles, one or two went sort of viral and then it all went dead. I kept writing and writing but, it seemed like with every post, my audience got smaller.
I tried writing for a couple of publications and that didn’t work out well either.
It was odd. Odd because, I’ve had success with other platforms. Odd because, my writing has never been rejected so much. Odd because, people who wrote articles without a point, riddled with errors got more readership.
So, I gave up. And I started blaming Medium for my readership woes. I thought they changed their algorithm. I thought that people who wrote more trendy articles on writing and making money on Medium were the ones that became popular. I thought I needed to bare my soul if I wanted to get a noteworthy response.
I was going to have none of that!
So I left. Well I didn’t leave, I just didn’t bother. I found my calling elsewhere. I kept up my personal blog on Wordpress, which still gets an overwhelming response and I decided to start up on…
